1. Are all American Express® Cards eligible for ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’?

You can use ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’ at participating SafeKey online merchants if:

▪ You are the Primary Card Member.

▪ Your Card account is in good standing (i.e., not overdue or in collections).

▪ You hold an AEME-issued American Express Card that is enrolled in the eligible Membership Rewards® program.

You are not eligible if:

▪ You are Supplementary Card Member.

▪ You are a Corporate Card Member

2. How do I use my points for credit with ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’?

When you use ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’, you are using your points to receive a statement credit towards your Card account.

Steps to use your points:

▪ When you make a purchase using your eligible American Express Card with a participating merchant, you will be given the option to use Membership Rewards® points for a statement credit to your Card account.

▪ Enter your eligible American Express Card details at the merchant checkout and complete the transaction.

▪ You will be directed to the SafeKey screen where you can use points for a statement credit on your Card account.

▪ Simply select the ‘View Membership Rewards® Pay with Points’ option.

▪ Enter the OTP and select ‘Confirm’. The ‘Membership Rewards® Points’ section will display the corresponding points needed for the purchase.

▪ Review the transaction details, agree to the terms and conditions, then click "Pay with Points."

Confirmation:

Upon successful points redemption, a success screen will display all the information.

▪ On the success screen, click ‘Continue’ to be redirected to the online store where your transaction will be processed as usual.

▪ You will also receive an SMS confirmation.

Statement credits normally appear on your Card account within 2 to 4 days.

▪ Depending on when your next Card statement is due, the statement credit may not appear until your next statement period. This could mean you may end up with a positive credit balance in the following month, which will be offset against future Card purchases. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card account by the due date.

3. How many points can I use for ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’ purchase?

The minimum number of Membership Rewards® points required for a credit on an American Express SafeKey purchase is 100 points. You can use as many points as you like, up to the total purchase amount, as long as you have enough points in your Membership Rewards® account. You cannot redeem for a higher value than the purchase amount.

4. Can I redeem my points partially?

No, partial redemption is not allowed. If the Card Member does not have sufficient points to cover the transaction amount, the points redemption will not be submitted. A screen with a failure message will appear, and the transaction will proceed as normal, with the amount being deducted from the card account.

5. Can I use 'SafeKey Pay with Points' to pay for international transactions using Membership Rewards® points?

Yes, you can use 'SafeKey Pay with Points' to pay for an international currency transaction using Membership Rewards® points. However, please note that your card will be charged the full amount in the billing currency, and you will receive a statement credit on your account within 72 hours. The statement credit will not cover any markups related to cross-currency transactions.

6. When will I receive the statement credit on my Card account?

Statement credits normally appear on your Card account within 72 hours. Depending on when your next Card statement is due, the statement credit may not appear until your next statement period. This could mean you may end up with a positive credit balance in the following month, which will be offset against future Card purchases. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card account by the due date.

7. Why was my card still charged even though I used Membership Rewards® points?

Even though you used Membership Rewards® points, the full purchase amount will still be charged to your Card account and will appear on your next Card statement. You must continue to pay all amounts due on your Card account as usual. Charging your Card account ensures you have a full record of your transaction, which is important should you wish to seek a refund or return from the merchant, or if you wish to dispute the transaction. Your Card will be charged the full amount, and then you will receive a statement credit on your account within 72 hours.

8. Will I still earn Membership Rewards® points on my purchase?

Yes, you will earn points on the entire dollar value of the purchase regardless of whether you utilize Membership Rewards® points at the checkout for statement credit.

9. I used my points with ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’for statement credit, but my purchase wasn’t authorized by the merchant. Will I get my points back?

If you chose to use your points but the transaction didn’t go through with the merchant, then the points will not be deducted from the Membership Rewards® account.

10. Why can't I redeem my points with SafeKey?

It may be that you do not hold an eligible Card that is enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program, or that the online store you are making a purchase with is not enrolled with American Express SafeKey or ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’. It may also be that your Card account is not in good standing (i.e., overdue or in collection). 11. Do I still need to make a bill payment this month?

Yes, a statement credit to your Card account, because of using ‘SafeKey Pay with Points’, does not constitute a payment to your Card account and does not satisfy the requirement to make a payment.

12. Will I receive my points if I get a refund from the merchant?

If you return the goods or cancel the service you've purchased from the seller, then any refund you receive will be credited to your Card account. The statement credit will, however, remain on account. Your points account will therefore not be reimbursed.

13. Is there a charge for using points for credit with SafeKey?

No, there is no fee for using this service.
